Who wins the war? The Archer or the Bow?

There was an amazing session with Devdutt Patnaik an acclaimed author, mythologist and leadership coach at #TechHR2019, unraveling tech through the lessons of mythology. Here are the excerpts from the session.

Who wins the war - the archer or the bow is a metaphor. He brilliantly put together a framework called Yantra (technology), Mantra(mind) and Tantra (body). He explains Yantra as technology. Mantra as the way you think and the strategies you make. Tantra is the set of skills that you bring to the table.

In general, many people think that having Yantra (Technology) will solve the problem. But Devdutt refutes it strongly and says technology can't function on its own. It needs to be checked and aligned to your needs from time to time.In short, you need a combination of Yantra, Mantra and Tantra to succeed.

Remember, even the greatest warrior Arjun had to be an archer before he could yield the mighty bow - Gandiva. Also, just having the Gandiva doesn't make you Arjun.

Every CHRO/CXO needs to think about the right combination of Yantra, Tantra and Mantra while developing their organization functions and staffing their teams. Usually the CXO ends up being the Mantra.

Our appreciation to PeopleMatters for bringing eminent personalities like Devdutt Patnaik for an inspiring session.
